Dillon | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
I was so excited to meet baby Dillon. I did his Mommy’s maternity session in January, when we were lucky enough to get a few flurries for her outdoor shots. It was just so fitting that he was a Spring baby with those snowy Maternity shots! Dillion definitely got his parents long, long legs. He still curled up so adorably for me in my green wrap. He ate and slept like a champ for his newborn session and with all that eating – we certainly had a few laughs over all the resulting…er…. incidents. Dad got the brunt of it, but he handled it really well. I always tell my newborn parents – the accidents are inevitable – I expect it and plan for it. All we need to do is have some paper towels and wipes nearby, we handle it and move on. After wiping away the tears of laughter, of course! As you can imagine, I’ve got some pretty hysterical stories and most new parents can definitely appreciate and relate. You won’t have to ask, I usually cheerfully volunteer to recount them!
Anyway – again another shout out to Dillon’s Dad on this shoot – I absolutely loved the suitcases and other props (some of which Dillon was too big for!) that he had ready to go!

Five weeks early | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
My jaw dropped when I opened the email that said “well, my son came about 5 weeks early…” I’ve gotten my fair share of early newborns but 5 weeks definitely wins the prize for earliest. Baby C was a healthy 6lbs 4 oz at birth and as strong as any full term baby. But he was putty in my hands, so cooperative, and a complete pleasure to photograph. Congratulations R & T on your beautiful baby boy!
My husband and I went on a quick weekend getaway a couple of months ago to New Hope, PA. We stayed at this excellent B&B and I picked up this vintage cranberry crate while exploring the local antique shops… it’s a new favorite for sure and Baby C was so awesome to let me try it for the first time. It’s now my new gallery wrapped canvas sample (photo of that coming soon!)
He was also really good in my twiggy basket…

Rylee | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
Did you see? The snow is gone! I finally updated that pic and traded snowy Jake for Jake & a blossoming cherry tree… now that’s more like it! But onto the adorable Rylee… what a doll! She was awake for much of our session – quite unusual for an 8 day old, but she was very content and super cooperative for her modeling debut. She gave us some amazing eye contact and poses.
I love to capture that newborn yawn… and look at the proud daddy… priceless!
So tiny…for such a brief moment in time…
This one will go on their wall as a 16×20… I LOVE when clients choose black and whites for their walls… I know they will be so pleased with their choice. I have several black and whites up. Maybe it’s just me and coming from a b/w film background but there is just something about the contrast against a colored wall and about how a black and white makes you focus so much more on the core of the image – it makes a for a striking wall portrait.
Congratulations to the S. Family on your beautiful baby girl!
Sweet Chub | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
It’s been a whirlwind month – is April really over? Where did it go?! Oh yeah… to the chubby feet and squishy faces of the all the newborns I was lucky enough to photograph this month! With only a minute to blog tonight – here she is… all of 19 days old, my “oldest” newborn yet: Miss Layla. (Love that name!) Look at all that sweet chubbiness… M & C, it was so nice working with you and M – my thoughts are with you! Thank you so much for letting me into your home to photograph your gorgeous newborn baby girl.
