It’s not all that often that I go on location for a newborn session these days as most clients prefer to come to me and make use of my studio with its wide variety of props and setups. But when I do, it’s always an exciting and unique experience – and the resulting images reflect that. Love that. This particular session brought in grandparents, the outdoors, and a bit of cozy lifestyle feel mixed in with traditional newborn posing that really made this session unique and special.
The one that gave me baby fever | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
Don’t know why, but holding this one was what did it. Could’ve been because she was a sweet little girl and I had two boys, could’ve been because she was my good friend’s daughter; could’ve been because it was HER third, could’ve been her sweet temperament. Whatever it was…it hit me. For real. Baby fever. Baby Charlotte’s session was in May 2011 and in June 2011, I found out I was pregnant with #3.
I’m back! | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
Oh it’s been awhile and so much has happened! An intensely busy Summer 2011 season, an even busier Fall 2011 season, some ups and downs, a pregnancy, and then… the birth of my third, a little girl! And here we are and it’s almost the Summer season again! In that time I had the privilege of photographing so many gorgeous families, so many unique and precious newborns, and lots of gorgeous moms-to-be. If you were following me on Facebook, you caught glimpses of my work as the months went on, but I have so, so many amazing sessions that I want to share. So many images that deserve to be seen bigger, and so many beautiful clients that deserve a little spotlight!
So, now that I am back from maternity leave, I plan to really catch up around here. I will be showing my work from the Summer 2011 and Fall 2011 season here on the blog, updating my website and blog with fresh work, and my Facebook page will still show my most recent sneak peeks as they happen. So stop by the blog every once in awhile to check out what new “old” stuff is up!
In the meantime – I will share just one of my sweet little Leia Madison…definitely one of my most challenging newborn sessions because it’s so difficult to photograph your own newborn. Not just because of the c-section but so many other issues when it’s your own! Anyway, I did manage to get a “few”
I’ll share her full session later. For now here is one of my favorites: simple & pure, no fancy headbands or hats, no flashy props…just sweet, sweet, baby.

Falling in love | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
Back in April, I hosted a 1 on 1 newborn workshop with and for another local photographer (Tatiana of www.tinyclicksphotography.com) and I fell in love… with macro. Now - I’ve always tried to capture those sweet little baby parts and I’ve always loved them (especially baby feet, love baby feet!) but I never knew love like this before. And this first image was the shot that made me fall in love… As you might have guessed, a Nikkor 105mm 2.8 VR has found a permanent home in my camera bag! Below you will find baby Colin and baby Maja, our two adorable workshop models.

Another gorgeous newborn girl…I’ve had so many newborn girls in the past few months and so few newborn boys.
This little girl was quite smiley…and let me try lots of fun new stuff.
