Clean + Simple + Connection | Long Island Maternity Photographer | September Blue Photography

That’s what this maternity session was all about.   K & K’s connection was so easy to see and this mama to be’s connection to their soon-to-arrive baby girl was clearly there.  Her confidence, happiness, and pregnancy glow were all there.  And I loved capturing it.

Sally | Long Island Maternity Photographer | September Blue Photography

Another beautiful mama-to-be.  Sally was a natural at this… she just looked awesome in every pose and every outfit.  But even better, she was so good at conveying her connection to her little one the way in these images…

Loved this top that she brought along – usually shiny stuff doesn’t photograph well, but this one looked so cute.

Surrounded by Love | Long Island Maternity Photographer | September Blue Photography

That’s what Stephanie named her sneak peek when she got it and posted it on Facebook.  I thought it was a perfect fit.  My new favorite family image.  I want to capture lots more like these this summer.  The rest of her maternity session was just as lovely, with her beautiful daughters just lighting up the images and her tiny little belly and beautiful glow doing the rest.

Simply Stunning | Long Island Maternity Photographer | September Blue Photography

It was my honor and privilege to document this beautiful woman’s pregnancy.   There is nothing about this session I didn’t love and the images that came out of this session are… Simply.  Stunning.  It was so nice to meet and work with a woman truly comfortable and happy with her pregnant body.   It was so inspiring.  Her beauty, both inner and outer,  just shone through on these images.     I love the drama of the first two, and the organic feel of the last four.

Big Sister To Be | Long Island Maternity Photographer | September Blue Photography

This adorable little peanut is now a big sister!  This is 9 month old Anna, and her beautiful mama who – in these photos – was expecting Anna’s little brother.   At the moment, we are getting ready for baby brother’s newborn session and I can’t wait to meet him.   But here, it was Anna’s 9 month mini-session, along with a mini maternity.

Wait, did she just say mini session?

Yes, I did.   Mini sessions are an option for my baby planners.   What’s a baby plan, you ask?  It’s special packages and offers for clients who want to do more than 2 portrait sessions in one year.    You may not know that if you never contacted me for baby plan information.   It’s perfect for baby’s first year, for multiple children, and it’s really, really easy,  so email me if you have questions.

But there’s more to this mini session story…  I will soon be offering mini sessions to my maternity clients.  I’ve been working on some irresistible packages for maternity sessions and full details are coming soon.

In the meantime – I have to say,  don’t you just want to hate on her pretty hair and beautiful eyes?  And the dress… she just looks so effortlessly graceful and elegant here.

Congrats again to the F. family – I can’t wait to meet your new addition and to see Anna when she turns one – I’m so looking forward to watching your beautiful children grow!

Celebrate | Long Island Maternity Photographer | September Blue Photography

You did it for your wedding.  You may have done it for your engagement.  You will do it for her first birthday.  You will do it for his 2nd birthday and every birthday thereafter.  And you will definitely do it for each and every graduation.

What is it that you did?  Celebrate.  You will celebrate the milestones of your life and of your children’s lives.   You will mark each and every special moment in some way – be it big or small – and for so, so many of them, you will hire a professional photographer.   Why?  Because those photos are ever so important to you, because the moments are irreplaceable, and because you can’t waste time being behind the camera because you are far too busy being in front of it, living it – exactly where you need to be.  So… tell me.  Why is that you don’t see your pregnancy that way?

I’m here to tell you that you need to stop and see that.  Before it’s gone.  Before you are 39.5 weeks and your doctor is talking about an induction and you finally start to realize – this little miracle that has been going on for the past 9 months is about to be over and convert over to a new and different miracle.   A new miracle that needs to be celebrated on it’s own, in it’s own way - differently.

But now…right now… it’s your time.  It’s  a special time, a special milestone and a special moment to capture.  I don’t care if it’s your 1st or 5th pregnancy.  Any woman will tell you – each and every pregnancy is special.   Your body is changing, your relationship with your signficant other is about to change, your relationship with your other children is about to change and you, yourself, are changing.    Why wouldn’t you celebrate?!  That’s what a maternity session is – a celebration.

Here is Tanya.  Well into her 33rd week of expecting her 2nd child, a little girl (who was born last week, btw, and yes, now you know how far behind I am on blogging!).  She is the cousin who probably looks most like me.  We are so alike in so many ways.   And while I often see her as kind of a little sister,  here I see her as a woman, a mother…and all the undeniable beauty that comes with that.

For maternity sessions, I definitely feel the need and desire to experiment more – not just with posing, lighting, and locations – but with processing as well.  It’s the only time I will ever really deviate from my fresh, clean, vibrant processing.   So here is a softer and creamier processing that I loved for this particular portion of this session…

So, if you are pregnant and still on the fence about a maternity session – just remember, whatever you decide – this is most definitely a time to celebate! =)

Up for Anything | Long Island Maternity Photographer | September Blue Photography

This beautiful mama to be was up for anything – including  braving the waters of this huge pond.    I just found out last night that her baby girl arrived on Friday so I figured I’d better hurry up and blog her maternity before the newborn session!  See you soon T!

Twice as nice | Long Island Maternity Photographer | September Blue Photography

You read that right.  She’s expecting TWINS.  Yes… there are two babies in there.  How, I don’t know… but she tells me they are in there.   Can I tell you how excited I am about these babies?  They’ll be here in just a few short weeks – identical boys – and I get to do their newborn session!

I literally squealed out loud when I read the email telling me she was having twins… you see, she’s been my client for a long time now and has become more than just a client…    You might recognize her seriously adorable daughter (who’s always all over my website – and my samples!) from past work… it’s been so fun watching her grow up and now to see her become a big sister to two little brothers – well, this is one of the perks of being a family portrait photographer that makes it so worthwhile.  I get to be there for this family to document momentous occasions in their lives… toddlerhood, holidays, pregnancy, and soon –  two new additions to their family.

Anyway, back to how fabulous she looks…

Loved this color combo on her…

Just a couple more… I can’t help it!    Two babies people.  Two.    See you in a few weeks D!!!

Dillon | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography

I was so excited to meet baby Dillon.  I did his Mommy’s maternity session in January, when we were lucky enough to get a few flurries for her outdoor shots.   It was just so fitting that he was a Spring baby with those snowy Maternity shots!  Dillion definitely got his parents long, long legs.    He still curled up so adorably for me in my green wrap.  He ate and slept like a champ for his newborn session and with all that eating – we certainly had a few laughs over all the resulting…er…. incidents.  Dad got the brunt of it, but he handled it really well.  I always tell my newborn parents – the accidents are inevitable – I expect it and plan for it.   All we need to do is have some paper towels and wipes nearby, we handle it and move on.  After wiping away the tears of laughter, of course!  As you can imagine, I’ve got some pretty hysterical stories and most new parents can definitely appreciate and relate.   You won’t have to ask, I usually cheerfully volunteer to recount them!

Anyway – again another shout out to Dillon’s Dad on this shoot – I absolutely loved the suitcases and other props (some of which Dillon was too big for!) that he had ready to go!

Speaking of snow… | Long Island Maternity Photographer

When S and I discussed what she wanted for her maternity session she mentioned that she wished we could go outside… Outside in Feb?   I was totally up for it.  The truth is, after being cooped up indoors for all my sessions since October, I was itching for some on location outdoor shooting.   And then I got lucky.  With a big snow storm looming in the forecast for our session day, I knew that even if we just got a dusting, it would be enough for some great outdoor shots.   And that’s just what we got.  As I trekked up her snowy and slippery walkway in my boots, clutching my camera for dear life, I looked around and quietly cheered for more snow.   I rang the doorbell and was greeted by a tall, slim, gorgeous blonde.  Whoa.  Lucky again.    So we got some indoor work done… quickly and easily… it was effortless for her…  My 5’4″ self stood on a chair for most the session.  Ok fine, 5’3.75″ =)   We hurried outside and I instantly saw her face light up and her eyes sparkle…she told me she loved the outdoors and evidently, the outdoors love her back.  The camera picked it right up too…

What I love about these two shots is the great eye contact in the one on the left – shows off her great eyes, but the connection is in the one on the right – she’s looking at her husband.  =)
