I’m back! | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
Oh it’s been awhile and so much has happened! An intensely busy Summer 2011 season, an even busier Fall 2011 season, some ups and downs, a pregnancy, and then… the birth of my third, a little girl! And here we are and it’s almost the Summer season again! In that time I had the privilege of photographing so many gorgeous families, so many unique and precious newborns, and lots of gorgeous moms-to-be. If you were following me on Facebook, you caught glimpses of my work as the months went on, but I have so, so many amazing sessions that I want to share. So many images that deserve to be seen bigger, and so many beautiful clients that deserve a little spotlight!
So, now that I am back from maternity leave, I plan to really catch up around here. I will be showing my work from the Summer 2011 and Fall 2011 season here on the blog, updating my website and blog with fresh work, and my Facebook page will still show my most recent sneak peeks as they happen. So stop by the blog every once in awhile to check out what new “old” stuff is up!
In the meantime – I will share just one of my sweet little Leia Madison…definitely one of my most challenging newborn sessions because it’s so difficult to photograph your own newborn. Not just because of the c-section but so many other issues when it’s your own! Anyway, I did manage to get a “few” I’ll share her full session later. For now here is one of my favorites: simple & pure, no fancy headbands or hats, no flashy props…just sweet, sweet, baby.

Baby Ben | Long Island & NYC Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
Sweet Baby Ben… he had the most gorgeous skin and the most beautiful big sister. I had so much fun photographing him and his entire family - they were all so much fun!

Another gorgeous newborn girl…I’ve had so many newborn girls in the past few months and so few newborn boys.
This little girl was quite smiley…and let me try lots of fun new stuff.

Beautiful Baby J | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
The busy outdoor season is officially in full swing (yay!) and so blog posts will get a bit shorter, but maybe more frequent as I try really hard to catch up, and you’ll see lots more fun outdoor work which I am excited to show and even more excited to shoot.
This is beautiful baby J, yes she is definitely indoor… with a touch of the outdoors brought to her session. This prop is real and I love it for that reason. It makes it that much more unique. It weighs a ton but again, love it. It’s currently undergoing a metamorphosis of sorts as it gets dried and treated for future use. While I looove the rich bark texture, I can’t wait to see how it’s going to look when it gets it’s new look!
Clean + Simple + Connection | Long Island Maternity Photographer | September Blue Photography
That’s what this maternity session was all about. K & K’s connection was so easy to see and this mama to be’s connection to their soon-to-arrive baby girl was clearly there. Her confidence, happiness, and pregnancy glow were all there. And I loved capturing it.

Sisters | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
So it seems that little girls still want little sisters, regardless of how many sisters they already have. These two were positively delighted to welcome the third baby girl to the family. Can’t say that I blame them… after all we girls… well, we are pretty awesome. While I have no biological sisters, I am lucky enough to have several cousins that I consider sisters as well as a few amazing sisters-in-law that I adore and would prefer to just to drop that pesky ”in-law” part. So I can relate. The more the merrier. And there’s room for at least one more over here… just waiting for a certain someone to pop a certain question… But back to these beautiful sisters….

Sally | Long Island Maternity Photographer | September Blue Photography
Another beautiful mama-to-be. Sally was a natural at this… she just looked awesome in every pose and every outfit. But even better, she was so good at conveying her connection to her little one the way in these images…
Loved this top that she brought along – usually shiny stuff doesn’t photograph well, but this one looked so cute.
Fabulous | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
Loved this little newborn peanut! She let me try all sorts of great poses on her. And she was such a beauty (when you see her mama’s pic, you’ll see where she got part of her good looks from!)

18 days | Long Island Newborn Photographer | September Blue Photography
It’s true… I won’t deny it. MOST newborn sessions take place within the first 14 days of life and they are better for it. It has pretty much become the industry standard for a newborn session and rarely will you see a newborn session that looks like this when the baby is older. Why? Because when newborns enter their 3rd week of life, baby acne can start to show up… they tend to sleep less and are more alert and awake. Plus, they start to lose that newborn curl and some other classic newborn traits. So I strongly urge all my newborn parents to let me know as SOON as baby is on the way or has been born. Most put me on their call list of friends and family to let me know that baby has arrived. And I can’t tell you how much I have LOVED getting those emails or texts that say “we are on our way to the hospital to have the baby!” I feel like I’m part of it and how exciting is it to be waiting for a new baby to arrive?! Few things in life beat that…
Hmmm … where was I? Oh yes… newborn photography past 14 days of life usually doesn’t normally look like this. But… then every once in awhile there is a dream baby like baby G… and she will do everything that a 6 day old will do and more. (Actually, I’ve been super lucky lately and have gotten several fantastic “older” newborns…maybe it comes with the experience ) When Baby G’s mommy contacted me last minute I just happened to have an opening – I couldn’t say no…
We were SO excited when she gave us all these amazing poses. She was just a happy baby and it showed. Her mommy and daddy were just over the moon in love with her and that showed. It was one of the sweetest newborn sessions ever. And the really great thing about ”older” newborns is how nicely filled out they are…they are eating well and have started to fill out so they are plump and biteable. [It's a word, I just made it up] Here she is… gorgeous baby G!
And the shot that had me LMAO when editing this session… LOVE this!!
